Grandma's Dance

Life has been busy around the Rogers home lately. Fall cleaning, dance practice, and the flu, really kept us on the move.
On Sunday was Grandma Prudence's birthday. My husband's grandma celebrated her 88th Birthday with us and the rest of her family. It was truly a blessed event and my girls had the honor of performing a beautiful dance to the tune of Fred Hammond's "blessing and honor".
My husband's mother is a Minister of dance and has definitely earned her stripes lol. She practiced, practiced, and practiced with the 4 older girls; making sure they perfected every move. My girls don't play sports yet and aren't part of any club so this dance was very important to them(and I as well).  DH and I were really using this as an observational experience, we wanted to see who would persevere, who would flake out, and in which areas our little ones needed guidance. Sunshine, our precious four year old decided a week prior to the performance that she didn't need practice anymore because she knew all of her moves, soooo she had to sit this performance out. We ended up giving her the task of rooting her sisters on during practice to encourage them, which she was really good at.
They stood in the dressing room with their aunt and grandmother preparing for their performance and I was filed with a bitter sweetness. I missed my babies. The babies that clawed at my chest for milk, and would gurgle with satisfaction after being fed, eyes as large as almond moons looking up at me. I still have Miami and Rose to swoon over, but my fabulous four were sprouting into beautiful, independent little ladies right before my eyes.
The dance went on without a hitch. They were all graceful, and the anointing filled the room. We were truly proud parents.
